    Mail from Great Britain via Italy 1868: Cover sent unpaid from Manchester to Patras, Greece endorsed 'via Brindisi' carried at double rate with obscured Manchester despatch cds (Jan 27) and thence via the Mont Cenis pass to Brindisi (Jan 31) with cds on reverse and manuscript '40' centesemi credit noted on front in manuscript, franked on arrival with 1862/67 20 l. blue, file fold, and contemporarily partially separated 80 l. carmine horizontal pair tied by 'Patras' cds's (Jan 25, julian). Red manuscript crayon '180' (lepta) on front: 2 x 90 lepta for double rate. Reverse with Brindisi, Kerkyra and Patras cds's. Cover refolded to protect adhesives but a scarce usage. Illustrated in 'Les Tarifs Helléniques' on page 145.
