Cérès 1 fr. carmine, horizontal strip of four with large margins on three sides and imperceptibly shaved at left, used in combination with 25 c. blue horizontal pair with close to large margins all round, on 1851 cover from Paris (July 3) to New York tied by 'grille sans fin'. Cover endorsed 'via Liverpool Steamer of 5 July' and carried on Cunard Steamer 'Asia' arriving in New York on July 16, with 'PD' in red at base and circular '10' (cents) in black. Reverse with 'Ligne de Calais' cds (July 3) in black. The cover slightly refolded at left and with minor creasing but in magnificent quality and most attractive. Signed Calves, A. Diena, Fiecchi.
