Incoming 1905 (7 June): Cover from Vienna to Addis Abeba, franked on reverse with Austria 1905 25 h. ultramarine without lacquer stripes, tied by bluish black WIEN despatch cds with adjacent ADEN (19 June) and DJIBOUTI (29 June) transit cds's. On front the cover was charged with 1 piastre tax stamp, tied by HARAR cds in blue. A fine and fresh combination cover.rnNote: The addressee of the cover is Friedrich Julius Bieber (1873-1924), an Austrian, who visited Ethiopia three times in 1904, 1905, and 1909, and he is recognized as the leading ethnologist dealing with the Kafa in southwestern Ethiopia. In 1905, under the leadership of Ludwig Ritter von Höhnel, an Austrian public mission was despatched to Ethiopia. Haile Selassie I, presented during the inauguration ceremony of the new Obelisk erected as a monument to the Ethiopian patriots who fell during the Italian occupation of Ethiopia; signed AS Bolaffi in margins.
