    Sicily: 1860 (March 10): ½ gr. orange, plate I, horizontal strip of three (positions 42-44), very fresh with enormous margins, in combination with adjoining stamp from pos. 41 (just touched) on letter from Termini to Palermo. The strip is tied by PALERMO circular date stamp to the letter, with the TERMINI oval mark alongside. The franking together with a large part of the letter has been carefully reinserted into its original place on the letter-sheet whilst the certificates emphasise the good qualitiy of the item. Certs.     1859 (Aug 1): ½ gr. orange, plate 1, horizontal pair from pos. 22 & 23 with enormous margins, used in combination with 5 gr. 'carmine' from pos. 49 of plate I, and 10 gr. 'indigo' from pos. 5 of plate I, four fresh and fine examples with good to huge margins all round, tied by three strikes of 'ferro di cavallo' handstamp, two line 'MESSINA / 1 AGOSO' despatch handstamp alongside, to entire letter to Napoli.  Red Naples arrival (Aug 2). Minor file fold well away from the adhesives, an attractive and unusual three colour combination of great freshness. Signed A. Diena. Certs.
