FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. 90 reis black, Early Impression on yellowish toned paper, the used example with large margins all round, cancelled by rimless CORREIO GERAL DA CORTE datestamp 1.8.1843 in black. A spectacular stamp used on First Day of Issue and one of just two examples known of the 90 reis (the other example was in the Dr. Hugo Goeggel collection, Corinphila sale 178, lot 4148 in February 2013). Tiny nick in the lower left corner of the stamp in no way affecting the appearance of this rarity. Cert. Moorhouse (2013).
