    Stamps of German Marshall Islands surcharged 1914 (16 Dec): GRI and Value 5 mm. apart, 4 d. on 40 pf. black & carmine, Setting 2, position 6, a used example with the variety ''d. omitted" of excellent colour and superb perforation, tied by oval "RABAUL JAN .. 1915 NEW BRITAIN" datestamp in violet (Gibbs type 8) to piece. Two used examples of this extremely rare variety are known by Gibbs, this one on piece, signed Kilian BPP, cert. BPA (2014) Gi = £ 7'000.
