    1879: Quetzal, ¼ r. brown and green, nicely centered, fresh vibrant colour, used on 3 Dec 1880 local cover within Guatemala City, cancelled by five pointed star handstamp in black, with "Correos / Guatemala" octagonal in pink alongside. Some minor opening tears at top, otherwise a remarkably clean small envelope. Very rare; one of only three recorded covers, two of which are offered in this sale Gi = $1'250. rnrnRemark: This particular example is very similar to the one illustrated by Goodman on page 91 of 'Guatemala 1', having the same postmarks, the latter which is ex.
