    Italian Post in Alexandria, Usage of Italian stamps 1864 (Oct 8): Double rate Envelope from Alexandria to Nogara, endorsed "Italia Pro Venete", bearing 1863 DLR printing 40 c. rose-carmine and 60 c. light lilac, tied by framed "PIROSCAFI POSTALI ITALIANI" handstamp, "ALESSANDRIA D'EGITTO / POSTE ITALIANE 8 OTT. 64" despatch cds and "P.D." handstamp in black alongside. Reverse with ANCONA transit (Oct 13), ambulant, and Austrian-style straight-line "Isola della Scala" transit (Oct 15) cds's. An appealing cover. Cert. E.
