1840: Mulready 1 d. black letter-sheet, stereo obscured by wax seal, with internal "Society for the Extinction of the Slave Trade and for the Civilisation of Africa" advertising inside, mailed from Frome to Croydon cancelled by 1844 type "306" numeral obliterator in black. Reverse with double arc 'Frome' despatch cds (Sept 10, 1844), London transit cds in red and double arc 'Croydon' arrival cds (Sept 11) in black.
