'azzuro chiaro', carta di Palermo, plate III, fresh and fine adhesives with fair to large margins all round, tied by 'ferro di cavallo' handstamp to cover from Messina to Genova, endorsed "Col Vapore postale francese". Despatch datestamp (Jan 16, 1860) and "PIROSCAFI POSTALI FRANCESI" handstamp in red alongside, reverse with arrival datestamp (Jan 20). Taxed with '2' (decesimi) handstamp for the Sardinian part of the journey. Attractive franking paying correctly the 22 grana rate for a letter with 1½ sheets to Sardinia. Signed Em. Diena; cert. E.
