    1852 (Aug 20): Entire letter from Rovigo to Forli in the Papal States, bearing Carta a mano 15 c. rose type II, a fine and fresh example with even large margins, tied by ROVIGO two-line datestamp, FRANCA and "REGNO LOMBARDO-VENETO" handstamps. Struck on obverse also by FRONTIERE and "Regno L°V°" handstamps, all in black. The last handstamp was added at the border to the Papal States in S. M. Maddalena. Reverse with Ferrara transit (Aug 21) and Forli arrival (Aug 22) datestamps. Paid by the sender until the border, taxed upon arrival for the residual part of the journey. Two light horizontal file folds well away from stamp and postmarks, a most interesting and attractive part paid entire.
