HAPAG 1872: Cover from Port of Spain to London, endorsed "per Hamburg Steamer via Plymouth", franked by 1863/76 1 s. lilac rose, wmk. Crown CC, tied by TRINIDAD double arc cds (Aug 13) in black with "TRINIDAD / PAID" in red at left, carried on a HAPAG Steamer (at four times the cost) with superb "PLYMOUTH / SHIP LETTER" datestamp of arrival (Sept 6) in black. London cds of the following day on reverse; addressed to Admiral Cochrane at the United Services Club. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 174.
