    1863-71: 6 d. deep reddish mauve perf. 11½, wmk. double lined '6', a fresh and fine used example in a resonant shade, on 1870 cover to Newcastle NSW, tied by 'Oval of Bars' obliterator in black, clear and attractive "GENERAL POST OFFICE HOBART TOWN 12 AP 1870" cds in red alongside, reverse with Sdney (Apr 16) transit cds and arrival cds of the next day. Opened on two sides, an appealing cover and an interesting stamp, presumably perforated officially by Walch with the old 11.8 machine. Opinion Holcombe (1995).
