    International Postal Connections to Europe - Switzerland 1867 (June 14): Cover from Gallatz to Wattwyl SG, franked with 1864 Arms 5 s. rose, two examples and single 15 s. brown, perf. 9½, tied by "GALLATZ 14/6" cds's in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 743). Reverse with Vienna transit and Zürich-St. Gallen TPO cds as well as Wattwyl arrival cds (June 17). On front, '3' kreuzer CM in blue crayon for onward postage beyond Austria. Some minor perf. imperfections but an attractive and fresh cover full of postal history content, illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 431 and in the Ferchenbauer handbook part IV on page 569.rnNote: From May 1st, 1867 six of the post offices in the United Principalities (Bucharest, Fokshan, Galatz, Giurgevo, Ibraila & Ploestie) came under Hungarian postal administration. The old Austrian Arms definitives should have been replaced by June 15, 1867 but the new 'Ausgleich' issue of 1867 with the portrait of the Emperor was not yet available. Therefore, the Arms definitives continued in use until July 1867. The Post Offices in Moldavia and Walachia had a reduced rate of 5 soldi only for the Levant part of the journey. The sender's on this cover was 5 soldi for the Levant, 15 soldi for Austria and 5 soldi for the first Swiss rayon.
