    Austrian occupation of Moldavia and Walachia during the Crimean War 1855 (Aug. 20): Entire letter from Vienna to Baron du Mont, an officer at the Headquarter of the Austrian troops in Bucharest, returned to Vienna, '9' kreuzer in cash paid the military concession rate. Reverse with Hermannstadt transit and Fieldpost "K.K.FELDPOSTAMT No. 1 26/8" arrival (Tchilinghirian fig. 712) cds's in black and Vienna return cds (Sept. 10) in red. A rare and most unusual entire. Illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 151.rnNote: Austrian troops occupied Moldavia and Walachia in the summer of 1854 after the retreat of the Russian forces. The Austrian Consular Post Offices handled the Fieldpost of the Austrian troops and later, civilian mail also. The Fieldpost offices closed in March 1857 after the end of war and were converted into Consular Post Offices.
