    1865 (July 4): 4 d. vermilion, Plate 12, wmk. Large Garter, a used example on 1872 entire letter endorsed "Via Lerwick" (Shetland Islands) to Tveraa, Faroe Islands, tied by 'Leith / 221' duplex (Feb 28) in black. Reverse with Aberdeen cds (Feb 29, leap year), Lerwick cds (March 3) and Danish THORSHAVN arrival cds (March 7) in black. The rate to the Faroe Islands was the same as for Denmark, 4 d. for under ½ ounce. A fine entire to a most unusual destination.rnrnNote: There are two known correspondences to the Faroe Islands between 1868-1881. The Mortensen correspondence to Tveraa contained just 6 covers. The Thomsen correspondence to Tveraa contained 4.
