    1871/73: 1 d. brown, perf. 12½, worn plate, two horizontal pairs and two single examples used on 1872 cross-written cover from Nelson to London, all tied by Nelson 'N1' duplexes in black (July 8). Reverse with London arrival datestamps (Sept) in black and in red. Stamps lifted for checking and hinged back in to place. A most unusual and scarce franking.
