Used in Constantinople 1876/76: Great Britain 2½ d. rosy-mauve, pl. 2, wmk. Anchor, lettered "LH/FL" in error, a fine used example, cancelled by "C" obliterator of Constantinople in black leaving the lettering clear. Exceptional and very rare. Cert. This famous error was discovered by an American collector in early 1893. He was at first disbelieved, however when A.B. Creeke examined the Plate 2 imprimatur sheet, he confirmed the existence of the flaw in October 1893.
