    Woodblock Issue 1854 (Sept 1): 2 s. bluish-green on yellow, imperforate, a fine example with large even margins all round, used on 1854 entire letter (internally dated Sept 7) from Melbourne to London endorsed 'p. Croesus Str.', tied by oval "1/V" obliterator of Melbourne with oval datestamp (Sept 9) in black. Rated 1/4 d. to pay on arrival in manuscript (double the 8 d. ship fee). A superb and rare entire, the adhesive used in the first weeks of issue - believed to be the earliest recorded usage of this stamp. A lovely entire.rnrnProvenance.
