    Recess by Perkins Bacon 1856: 'Queen on Throne' 1 d. yellow-green, wmk. Star, shaved at left otherwise with large margins all round, used with November 1856 Half-Length 3 d. Prussian blue, shaved at base but with portion of adjoining stamp at left, used on 1857 entire letter to Beechworth tied by circular "1" numeral obliterator of Melbourne in black. Reverse with Melbourne despatch (Jan 19) and 'Beechworth / Victoria' arrival (Jan 22) datestamp in black and fine (and very early) "James J. Blundell & Co. / Melbourne" blue wafer seal.
