½ peso yellow-buff, diagonal bisect, lower right diagonal half of the stamp, used on cover dated internally December 16, 1859 from Puno to Arequipa to pay the double rate of 4 dineros, tied by PUNO oval negative handstamp in black. Tiny corner clip at left of stamp of no significance, this being one of just two recorded covers bearing this rare usage - this cover too was also cancelled at Puno (Corinphila, sale 90 (Oct 1994) lot 7222, realising 27,000 chf.).
