Alexandria 1847 (July 20): Entire letter, slitted for disinfection due to Cholera outbreak, mailed from Alexandria to Livorno through the Austrian P.O. with fine two line dated ALEXANDRIEN / JUL.20 despatch in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 2), prepaid at 24 kreuzer, noted on reverse in manuscript. Initially disinfected by slits at Trieste and then again with framed DISINFETTATA DEL LAZARETTO / ST. ROCCO DI LIVORNO in black on reverse. Transits of 'Trieste via / di mare' in black and circular 'Austria No.1' in black applied in Florence. Charged 8 centesemi due on receipt.
