    Ballon Monté 1870 (Dec 30): Siège 20 c. blue used on 1870 cover and complete contents endorsed "Ballon Monté" to Lyon tied by bold strike of scarce "A.F.A" dotted lozenge with "ARMÉE FRANÇAISE / A" datestamp at left (Dec 30) in black. Flown on the 54th Ballon "Le Newton", reverse with Lyon arrival cds (Jan 7, 1871) and Fontaines-sur-Saône arrival (Jan 8). Slight aging on perforations but rare and most appealing. Signed Goebel.
