Corinphila is established as one of the most important and prominent auction houses in global philately. Since 1925 the name of Eduard Luder, like the names Jack Luder and Corinphila later on, have become an integral part of philately’s story. A tale of tradition, legends, individual memories, and successes, which collectors associate with the strength and integrity of Corinphila’s history, its reputation today, and its future potential.

We know that philatelists generally treasure Corinphila’s sale catalogues as important references. Our Bibliography of Sales is a documentation we proudly share to verify our legend of sales, and our professional performances, and not least it includes the two indexes on WHAT we have sold over the years, and WHOSE important collections.

The Corinphila House Style to promote Single Owners, Name Sales, and important collections was introduced from the 8th sale (1928). This concept took a further step from the 26th sale in 1934, when a separate catalogue was presented for the first time. The catalogues for the Auction Event Week of 1-6 June 1981 implemented the concepts in full, with five Single Owner Sales presented in special catalogues, in addition to the Stamp Auction Catalogue. That timing was also the start of the Corinphila style of using pseudonyms in the titles of sales. Karl Louis together with Dieter Michelson introduced the ‘Louis & Michelson Presentation Concept’, being visible in Corinphila’s sale catalogues from 2007.

We usually say: Your Collection Deserves a ‘Royal Treatment’, Too …

  1. We have a strong community of buyers and transparently publish these figures;
  2. We believe in transparent offerings, so all lots are offered with the starting price as the only reserve, no estimates or “hidden” reserves;
  3. We publish printed auction catalogues for all material, with descriptions and provenance meticulously researched;
  4. Our printed sales catalogues are shipped in thousands to passionate collectors around the world. In parallel to the printed presentations, we also publish ONLINE and digital formats;
  5. We advertise collections entrusted to us in a diverse range of publications and at philatelic events;
  6. Our auctions are LIVE performances with buyers submitting their bids in writing to the book, being present in the room at the auction, or bidding LIVE on the telephone, or being ONLINE;
  7. To verify our transparency on what we say and communicate about our sales, our auditor testifies on our website in his report the correct processing of the accounting for vendors and buyers. In addition, the Zürich Cantonal Officer (Stadtammann) always supervises the auction performance ongoing.
