    1839 (Aug 3): Entire letter from Valparaiso to Saddleworth, England endorsed "per H.M.S Imogen" at lower left, struck on arrival with fine framed "PORTSMOUTH / SHIP LETTER" in black (Robertson S13). London cds of transit on reverse (Nov 15). Rate altered from "1/4d." due to pay to "1/8d." with manuscript "Nov 17th 1839" above. Ex the Brian Moorhouse estate.
