    1870: Registered Entire letter from Paris to Rome, bearing a horizontal pair of Siège 40 c. orange, a superb multiple with vibrant colour and good perforation, tied by "PARIS PL. DE LA BOURSE 18 JUIN 77" cds, an additional information strike and framed 'R' in red alongside. Reverse with Paris Étranger transit cds in blue and Roma arrival cds (June 20). A most attractive cover, the franking paying the correct first GPU rate abroad with 30 c. postage and 50 c. registration fee, a late usage of the Siège stamps in the Sage period.
