    1863: 20 c. blue (2) and 40 c. orange (2) used on 1867 double rate cover from Beirut, Lebanon to Glarus, Switzerland tied by 5082 gros chiffres with 'Beyrouth / Syrie' datestamp alongside (Oct 2). Carried on the Steamer 'Eridan' to Alexandria, thence via P&O Steamer 'Bangalore' via Malta to Marseille (Oct 12) with 'Paq. Ang. / Marseille' entry marking in red (Salles fig. 744). Reverse with 'Geneve-Sion' cds, Lausanne cds and Glarus arrival cds (Oct 14). Some minor aging but an attractive and scarce cover. Cert. Eichele (1999).
