    Issued at Old Calabar 1893 (Dec): 'HALF / PENNY' in vermilion on Great Britain 2½ d. purple on blue, an unused vertical se-tenant pair, marginal from left of sheet with upper stamp Gibbons Type 6 handstamped surcharge in vermilion, lower stamp with italic Gibbons Type 7 handstamped surcharge in vermilion, variety "Surcharge Diagonal Reading Up", fresh and very fine with merest thin spot on one perforation at base, trace of speckles from red blotting paper utilised to store the stamps on large part og.
