    Surcharged by De La Rue on GB 1890 (May 23): 1 a. on 2 d. green & carmine, a used vertical strip of five, top stamp just a little out of kilter, on 1890 cover to Parkstone, Dorset tied by MOMBASA code C circular datestamps (June 4) in black. Reverse with Parkstone arrival cds (July 16) in black. An extremely rare cover, John Minns in "British East Africa" on page 7 records just three commercial covers bearing the first issue: this being the earliest recorded usage and bearing the largest known first issue multiple of any of the three stamps.
