    Kyiv 1918: Collection hundreds used/unused Kyiv ovpts on single adhesives and multiples up to sheets of 25, incl. single and multiple handstamp usages, Arnold and Svenson types, ovpts on Chainbreaker, Romanov, Postal Saving and better Imperial arms stamps up to 10 rub. perf. definitives, showing varieties such as center offsets or inverted Tridents, in addition Ministerial ovpts on Romanov commemorative stamps, closes with a group of forgeries or doubtful adhesives. A fine assembly in a 28 side stockbook, incl. items unlisted and unpriced in Bulat catalogue, few stamps punched Bulat = $ 8'600+.
    Note: This and the following seven Lots are from the collection of Alexander Epstein, well-known for his publications on Ukrainian postal history in the 1917 - 23 period. This collection was formed in the Soviet Union in the 1950s - 70s and so could not be submitted to Dr. Seichter or other recognised experts. However, the collection was carefully formed and the great majority of the material is genuine. Forgeries are marked as such.

    1858/1861: Covers (3) from Rio de Janeiro to Denmark, all three sent unpaid, the 1858 and 1860 covers with British P.O. in Rio de Janeiro despatch cds's (sent via ships Avon and Oneida) and charged 1/4 d. in manuscript for a total of 78 skilling due and the 1860 cover (at double weight) charged 2/8d. for a total of 163 skilling due; the 1861 cover with bold "Correio Geral Da Corte" despatch cds (Dec 2) and mailed via Bordeaux with a charge due of 116 skilling.     1857/1935c.: Officials-the extraordinary and voluminous collection, with 1857 Official cover from the Spanish Legation to Gualeguaychu cancelled by framed "Franca" and oval "Montevideo" datestamp in green, postal stationery for P.O. purposes unused and used in 1870 (two covers), cover with the earliest known usage of overprinted "OFICIAL" issues (an 1882 three colour franking to Caracas sent registered via New York), 1880/82 issue with 1 c. block of 32, 5 c. green in a block of 30, 50 c. black in block of 12, 1 p. blue in blocks of four (3), 1884 1 c. green in blocks of four (5) etc. with multiples throughout and a selection of rather damaged complete sheets; covers abound with 50+ covers showing extraordinary frankings (all Uruguay Official issues are rare on letter).
