The very rare block is in its original state without any repairs. It has some margin faults and is cut into at the bottom and at the top on the right hand stamp. The stamps are tied by a straight line AFFRANCATA and the FIURENZUOLA double circle in red. The stamps are gently cancelled with the red grid of FIURENZUOLA . They are tied by a clear strike of the "PARMA" barred lozenge. A red arrival "TORINO" (11. Oct.) is applied to the reverse. Due to being stuck close to the edge, the franking shows minor signs of wear, particularly the 5c. black.  A very rare mixed franking of first and third issue. Oct.): 5c deep blue-green (verde azurro scuro) and 5c. blue-green (verde azurro) provisional Government 1859 issue first print, two horizontal pairs, right hand pair with part adjoining stamps at bottom and only just touched on left on entire letter from PARMA to PADUA. The right pair is tied by the PARMA datestamp (22. Oct. 1859). A tax mark has been applied to the front, a transit MILANO (24. Oct.) and an arrival mark PADOVA (25/10) can be found on the reverse.  An immensely beautiful letter of great philatelic importance for the Provisional Government collector, it has been signed by a host of philatelic experts, beginning with Bolaffi, Enzo Diena and others. The stamps are tied by a single strike of the "PARMA" cds. (28.Dec.), a  "PD" in black and a beautifully contrasting French transit mark "SARDAIGNE CULOZ" (31.Dec.) in red have been carefully applied to the front of the envelope. A "TORINO" (29. Dec.) transit and and arrival mark Paris complete the documentation of the handling of this extremely rare letter.     1866 (9. August): 2l. scarlett, together with horizontal pair 60c. mauve and 40c. rose carmine, London prints, four fresh and fine examples on letter from Palermo via Marseille to New York. The stamps are cancelled by a dotted numeral "186" of Palermo. The letter, a 4th weight rate trans-atlantic letter, was originally weighed and endorsed "3" for third weight rate, but checked in France and found to be underfranked due to the 4th weight rate being applicable. The was "3" crossed and replased by "4" and endorsed 'affr. insuff'. Upon arrival in New York a "PAID ALL" cachet was applied in error and subsequently obliterated by multiple cork cancel strikes.     1870 (10. Oct.) 60c mauve (Turin print) fine example as single franking on insured letter from ROME to ANCONA. The stamp is cancelled by grilled lozenge with date stamp set besideon the front. The letter is sealed as usual with five wax seals on the reverse. An arrival mark ANCONA is dated 11. Oct. Signed with certificate Bottacchi (1994).

    1865  (24.Dec.): 20c. on 15c. blue "FERRO DI CAVALLO" type I, fresh example together with 60c. mauve on letter from Italy via Naples to Marseille by sea. The franking remained uncancelled until Marseille, when it was stamped 2240 MARSEILLE dotted Lozenge (grand chiffre). On the reverse is a faint and somewhat unclear Purifiée à Marseille in blue. A rare letter of fine quality.
