    Incoming Mail 1882: Queensland 1 d. pale vermilion (6 examples) used on 1886 cover from Brandon to Mauritius, all tid by '194' numeral obliterators in black with "Brandon" despatch cds below (Dec 8). Carried on the French steamer "Yarra" with circular "LIGNE T / PAQ. FR. No. 1" datestamp in black (Jan 1). Reverse with Townsville and Brisbane (Dec 20) transits and Port Louis arrival cds (Jan 17, 1887). Slight horizontal bend crosses the adhesives but this is the second earliest of just four pre-UPU covers from Queenland recorded in the Ben Palmer census (page 269).     1897/1945: Holy Land accumulation of over eighty items relating to Israel or neighboring countries, with Austrian, French Russian and German post-offices. The oldest is a postcard from Jamaica postmarked MALVERN, forwarded via the Austrian mail, with other items including postcards, postal receipts, postal stationery and others. A varied lot with much interest.

    1918/1945: Batch of over two hundred and fifty very interesting and varied covers and fronts (those mentioned are complete) from Palestine beginning with two large censored letters from a Major Steven Trowbridge from the American Red Cross Commission to Palestine, many registered and other special service letters from small towns like TIBERIA, PETHAH TIQVA, HADERA, RAMATAIM, BETHLEHEM, GAZA with rare destination ARGENTINA and KEFAR SAVA also censored to ARGENTINA. In total there are over twenty-five complete letters to Argentina, one to Paraguay and one redirecte to Uruguay. There are also receipts for postage paid for telegrams and an advice of delivery. A fabulous lot of postal history of this interesting area, almost exclusively commercial, together with an album of the stamps, including the odd block of four.

    1844c.: Local entire letter addressed to "Ma Misi Taluali at Falealili" care of Rev. G. (George) Stallworthy, a member of the London Missionary Society who first arrived in Tahiti in March 1834 and thereafter, in February 1844 he joined the Samoan Mission at Falealisi, Upolu, Samoa and was later in the New Hebrides Islands between May and August 1858. Shocking contents: "Leaumrega, wed. ½ past 10 am, Dear Henry, Mr. Heath is dead and I am grievous beyond expression. It is for me to add that he committed suicide. This awful affair took place at Sapapatu last night. He cut his throat with his razor in the little house between 7 and 8 in the evening...". A rare and early local entire.

A rare cover carried by this famous aviator on this record breaking flight completed in under 8 days flying time, envelope with two vertical folds, just four covers carried.

MAY 36" with endorsed type-written note: "Carried by Mrs. Amy Mollison on her record breaking flight from London to Cape Town via West Coast of Africa, Windhoek, 6 May, 1936", signed 'A Mollison', one of only four covers carried on that leg. Fine and scarce. - The British aviatrix Amy Johnson, departed Gravesend Aerodrome, Kent, England, 4 May 1936, in her Percival D.3 Gull Six, enroute to Cape Town and had set a record for solo flying this route, breaking the existing record which had been set by her husband, James Mollison.
