Charged at arrival with '15' centavos due. File folds well away from the franking, an interesting entire sent abroad.rnNote: Iquique belonged to Peru until the 1879 War of the Pacific between allied Bolivia and Peru against Chile after which it became part of Chile.

    1879: Coat of Arms 1 c. green and 10 c. black, used on June 22, 1883 envelope from San Salvador to London, endorsed "Via de Panamá", cancelled / tied by superb intaglio star in circle with a "SAN SALVADOR" despatch cds in red and clear French octagonal "ASPINWALL / PAQ. FR. A No. 2 1 JUIL. 83" shipmail datestamp (Salles vol IV, fig. 1416) alongside. Reverse with London arrival (July 25, 1882) cds in red. Horizontal fold and tear at right of adhesives, nevertheless an appealing Shipmail cover which made its journey on the steamer 'Lafayette' on the French line A fom Aspinwall/Colon to St. Nazaire.rnProvenance: 100.
