Reverse with 'Trinidad' double arc cds and single ring despatch (2 / April 3) in black. London cds on obverse in red (April 28) where treated as fully paid by oval PD in red, thence via Calais and Paris (April 29) to Michelstadt (May 1). Unfortunately the sheet has two closed tears affecting three stamps and is creased, nevertheless unusual Gi = £ 850+.

    1859 (May 9): 1 s. indigo, imperforate, a used example with good to large margins all round and portion of adjoining stamp at base, overlapping 1857 1 d. rose-red imperforate, on 1859 cover from Port of Spain to Baltimore, USA tied by "1" numeral obliterators and by "STEAMSHIP / 10" (cents) charge mark of arrival. Manuscript '4' inter-island credit in red at left and faint "♚ / PAID / AT / TRINIDAD" in red. Reverse with double arc 'Trinidad' cds of despatch (Oct 10) and small 'St. Thomas' cds (Oct 15). The stamps have been lifted, pressed and reaffixed, the cover patched within and refolded, however the 1 s. indigo is very rare on letter, especially such a fine example, and a most unusual franking.     1880: De La Rue artist's Essay for the 1880 1 d. value, using the Tobago 1879 1 d. rose Revenue issue of Tobago, applied to card (90 x 112 mm.), painting out the floral rosette design in the lower half of the circular band with hand-painted "POSTAGE" picked out in Chinese white inserted. The stamp signed off as accepted in red manuscript in margin of the adhesive, the card handstamped '2 JUL 80' at upper right in red.
