    1852: 4 bajocchi, a fine diagonally bisected example used on reverse of 1859 entire letter from Bologna to Cento tied by eight barred grill handstamp in black. Obverse with 'Bologna' despatch cds (July 8) in black and annotated '2' baj. on front in manuscript. A rare usage during the Provisional Govermnment period of Romagna. Signed E. Diena, Raybaudi.     1867: 10 c. orange vermilion and 40 c. lemon yellow used on small 1869 envelope to France tied by lozenge of dots and by blue 'St. Michel' entry marking, Rome cds at left (June 19) and reverse with Bagnieres de Luchon arrival (June 24). A charming cover.

    1867: Outer letter sheet from Narni (Oct 30, 1867) to Rome with mixed franking Italy 10 c. orange-ochre, cancelled with numeral dotted mark of Narni (rate until the boarder) and Papal States 2 baj., applied thereafter and cancelled by pen strike (rate within the Papal States). Address partially erased, last date known for such a mixed franking between Italy and Papal States. Several signatures; certificates Enzo Diena (1982) and Colla (2003) Sassone = EUR 50'000+.

(a fine 1864 cover from Nepi to Rome with a strip of four 1852 3 b.), 15 b., 16 b., 18 b., 23 b. (registered cover), 25 b. (1855 cover to Turin with 1852 4 b. and strip of three 7 b.), 32 b. (1860 envelope to New York), 34 b., 50 b. (cover to Malta), 54 b., 96 bajocchi etc. and 1867 currency change with covers rated at 10 c., 20 c., 40 c., 80 c.; also a few with Postage Due usages. Condition varies but generally fine, viewing is a recommended.
