    1867 (Feb 25): Lettersheet from Gouadeloupe to Philadelphia, USA, crowned "PAID AT GUADALOUPE" in red on front, double arc "GUADALOUPE FE 25 1867" datestamp in black on reverse. A French Colonies Eagle 40 c. orange on front tied by indistinct grill obliterator with indistinct French Gouadeloupe cds alongside. Reverse with thimble "ST-THOMAS MR 2 67" transit cds and front with US STEAMSHIP datestamp in black. An exceptional and fine cover.

    Guadeloupe 1875 (June 11): Prepaid Entire letter from Guadeloiupe to Philadelphia USA, crowned "GUADALOUPE PAID" in red on front, French Colonial issue Cérès pair 30 c. brown afficed and tied by mute grill obliterator, French "PAQ. ANGL / POINTE-A-PITRE GUAD 10 JUIN 75 alongside . Adhesives tied in addition by NEW YORK entry (June 22) cds, reverse with PHILADELPHIA arrival (June 23) cds. An interesting cover.

    British Post Office 1859/65: French Colonies General Issue 5 c. green and a horizontal strip of three 40 c. vermilion (Yvert 2+5) used on 1863 cover to Philadelphia endorsed "per Mail via St. Thomas", tied by dotted lozenge in black with "POINTE A PITRE / GUADELOUPE" cds alongside (Dec. 11). Transferred to the British P.O. with double arc GUADELOUPE cds in red on reverse (Dec. 12) and struck on obverse with "♚ / PAID AT GUADELOUPE" in red. Double arc ST. THOMAS transit in black (Dec. 14) and "Steamship / 10" entry charge mark in black. One Eagle 40 c. adhesive thinned at base but a rare cover of splendid appearance. Signed Calves. Cert.
