    1859 (March 20): Cover from Susteren via Maastricht to Tourcoing, endorsed "Echantillon sans valeur", bearing horizontal pair 1852 Willem 15 c. orange, a superb multiple with large even margins, tied by clear FRANCO - halfrond datestamp of Maastricht. The cover was given to the postal service at the small agency of SUSTEREN nearby Maastricht, a corresponding single-line handstamp was struck to the reverse. It was franked in Maastricht, a "P.D." handstamp was struck to the obverse as well as a French "PAYS BAS 21 MARS 59 LILLE" entry cds, both in red. Reverse shows a partial TOURCOING arrival (March 22) cds. The obverse shows a weiterfranko of 'wf5½' (silbergroschen) in red crayon credited from Prussia to France. A most attractive franking to France, signed Mikulski Mi = € 900.rnNote: A posad was a settlement in the Russian Empire, often surrounded by ramparts and a moat, adjoining a town or a kremlin, but outside of it, or adjoining a monastery in the 10th to 15th centuries.
