    1852: 10 c. rose-carmine, a fine used example with large margins all round, used on 1853 cover datelined internally 'Bois Le Duc 2 Juillet', mailed from Holland and the adhesive tied by HERTOGENBOSCH half-round datestamp (July 2) in black. Posted out of course and handstamped "Na postyd" with manuscript "ontoereikend" and "timbre insuffisant" applied. 'Pays-Bas / Valnes' entry marking in red (July 5) and considered unpaid and charged with handstruck '6' décimes to pay on arrival. Fine and scarce cover.

    1864: 5 c. blue and 15 c. orange-yellow, used on 1865 cover from Gravenhage to Rochefort sur Mer, France tied by framed FRANCO handstamps in black with 'Gravenhage' cds in red of despatch (Aug 8) at right. Valnes entry marking in red alongside (Aug 10) and the cover readdressed on arrival in Paris to Toulon - with no less than ten circular datestamps on reverse - and charged with handstruck '6' décimes to pay on arrival. A fine and rare cover.

    1864: 10 c. dull rose-red, a used example on 1866 cover from Maastricht to Nimes tied by framed FRANCO in black with "Maastricht" despatch cds at right (Aug 25). Erquelines entry marking in blue of the following day and "insuffisant" applied in manuscript under the adhesive and letter charged with handstruck '6' décimes to pay on arrival. Scarce.

    1867: 10 c. carmine, a used example on 1870 cover from Rotterdam to Le Havre endorsed "p. directeur Steamer Ary Scheffer" (non Contract Steamer, bâtiment du commerce') tied by dotted '16' numeral handstamp in black with Rotterdam despatch cds (Oct 30) below. Circular "OUTRE-MER / LE HAVRE" entry marking in red (Nov 3) and charged with handstruck '6' décimes to pay on arrival, equivalent to an unpaid letter. Small nicks to letter-sheet but a scarce cover.     1872: 5 c. blue (2), used on 1872 mourning envelope to the Poste restante, Paris with OOTHEN straight line at top and tied by "31" dotted numerals of Dreibergan (Nov 9). Underpaid and struck with two different "ONTOEREIKEND" handstamps in black. Taxed on arrival (Nov 11) the short paid amount at double the deficiency with '4' décime due marking in black. A fine and attractive cover.
