    French Shipmail 1875 (May 18): Entire letter from Veracruz to Havanna, endorsed "par Ville de Brest", bearing Mexico 1874 10 c. black (50-74) perf. 12 (Scott 107), tied with a circular datestamp, both covered with horizontal pair of France Cérès 1872 30 c. brown, a fine multiple with good perforation, tied by crisp Ancre lozenge. Front with strikes of Shipmail's octogonal datestamps "VERA CRUZ PAQ. FR. B N° 4" 18 MAI 75" (Salles vol. IV p. 95) and "MEXIQUE 1" as well as framed "P.P." in black and '3' reales due in Cuba. Reverse with Habana arrival cds (May 21, 1875). Minor perforation toning and file fold well away from the stamps, nevertheless an amazing piece of postal history from Martinez correspondence. Cert.     Lot# : 5323 Venezuela

    French Shipmail 1876: Envelope from Porto Cabello to Bordeaux, bearing Sage 1 fr. bronze type I, fresh colour and normal perforation with large parts of the left neighbouring stamp, tied by octogonal "PORTO-CABELLO 5 AVRIL 78" datestamp, an information strike and PUERTO CABELLO CORREOS DE VENEZUELA handstamp alongside. Reverse with octagonal "VENEZUELA PAQ. FR. A N°3 5 AVRIL 78" datestamp and Bordeaux arrival (April 23) cds. Light file folds well away from the stamp, a rare Shipmail usage on the vessel 'Ville St. Nazaire' of line A.

    1870: Cover from Shanghai to Lyon, endorsed "via Brindisi", bearing Siège 40 c. orange in mixed franking with Cérès 1872 10 c. brown and 80 c. rose, cancelled by Gros Chiffres '5104' numeral lozenge, the Siège tied in addition by "SHANG-HAI 25 MARS 75 CHINE" cds, framed PD and "PAQ. ANG. V. BRIND. 8 MAI 75 MOD." cds, both in red alongside. Reverse with Lyon arrival (May 9) cds. Fresh and fine appearance, correct franking to pay the rate from China to France in the July 1871 tariff.rnProvenance: 148. Corinphila sale (Feb. 2007), lot 1993.

    1872: Double rate Envelope from the French PO in Shanghai to Brussels, endorsed "Via Brindisi", bearing two horizontal pairs of Cérès 1872 80 c. rose, tied by Gros Chiffres '5104' numeral lozenge with crisp "SHANG-HAI 15 AOUT 75 CHINE" cds as well as framed PD, framed APRES LE DÉPART and "PAQ. ANG. V. BRIND. MOD 2 OCT. 75" cds, all in red alongside. Reverse with transit and arrival cds's (Oct 8) from Granges and Bruxelles. Few nibbed perfs, nevertheless a fresh and fine appearance, correct franking to pay the rate from China to this rare destination in the July 1871 tariff. Signed A. Diena and Calves.

CHINE in red, tied by "SHANG-HAI CHINE 27 NOV 01" datestamp, Marseille La Reunion octogonal Shipmail's datestamp (Jan 6, 1902) alongside. Reverse with arrival (Jan. 22, 1902) cds in blue. Cover with folds and wear, nevertheless an appealing item to a destination of outmost rarity from China.
