    1915 (Nov 8): 15 k. red-brown Romanov commemorative money stamp used as postage stamp on a reg'd envelope within Petrograd. The item was reg'd in the machine at the main PO and shows the corresponding machine mark. Very nice combination of a rare machine mark and the local use.

    1922 (April 4): 7500 r. on 250 r. first RSFSR definitives (horizontal gutter pair with plate number) and 22500 r. definitives (vertical pair) tied with Petrograd cds's on reverse of a reg'd envelope to Berlin (Apr 14). The registration mark on the front of the cover is a combination of a one-liner 'St. Pétersbourg' handstamp and a numerator mark; this combination can be found as a temporary substitute only for few months at the beginning of 1922.
