    1883 (March): Piece from the De La Rue record book bearing at top right engraved Die Proofs of the 1867 4 d. value, the 1866 6 d. value and a lithographed Plate Proof of the 1 s. value with 'Missing Virgin', all with good margins all round and printed in black; with notations below in manuscript "Virgin Islands. The Crown Agents in their letter 10th March 1883 (C.A. vol 9, p. 85) tell us the colours to use for the ½d., 1d., and 2½d. Postage Stamps, i.e. International Colours [green, red and blue], These are the only duties we are concerned with as the other duties 4d., 6d. and 1/- are litho stamps and if they are indented again we had better recommend surface stamps with appropriate colours". Reverse with 'Jersey' arrival cds (July 20) and interesting message "There are no new provisionals since then...". Fine appearance and very scarce.
