    1862: Lot two stampless entire letters from Larnaca, Cyprus, forwarded via Beyrouth Lebanon to French post office ‘BEYROUT SYRIE’, one with additional strike of the French post office ‘ALXANDRIE EGYPTE’, both with French vessel to Genova, Italian handstamp "PIROSCAFI POSTALI FRANCESI" in red and manuscript or handstruck ’10’ décimes alongside. A rare provenance.

    1876/79: Great Britain 2½ d. rosy-mauve, plate 13, lettered HL, a used example tied to 1879 cover addressed to Algiers endorsed 'via Brindisi', tied by bold "942" numeral obliterator with corresponding "Larnaca / Cyprus" datestamp (May 7) alongside. Reverse with Brindisi transit cds (May 15) and obverse with 'Italie Amb. Lyon-Mars.' cds (May 17) in black. The envelope with flap fault on reverse and all sealed back together but a rare and attractive usage to an unusual destination.
