    Rhodos 1879 (July 29): Entire letter from Bristol to Rhodos, franked with Victoria definitive 2½ d. rosy mauve (Gi 141), a fresh and fine adhesive, tied by "BRISTOL JY 29 79 / 131" duplex datestamp in black, French Calais entry cds in red alongside, reverse with Lyon - Marseille Spécial TPO transit cds and cogwheel "RHODES 9 AOUT 79" arrival cds in blue. Cover opened up for display, a very rare incoming item from the United Kingdom; cert. Roumet (2006).

    Volos 1871 (Nov 4): Incoming Entire letter from Marseille to Volos, franked with 1867 Napoléon laureated 80 c. rose, a fresh and fine adhesive with vivid colour, tied by framed "P.P. in blue (Pothion = 37 points) of the Russian post office in Volos (Tchilinghirian fig. 173), no further handstamps alongside or on reverse. An extremely rare provisional cancellation upon arrival, if the adhesive was not cancelled at despatch or on the vessel, only few items known. Cert. Roumet (1999).rnNote: The bureau de distribution of Volos was opened between 1857 and 1861 when a Petits Chiffres '4019' was attributed to it while not one item with this cancellation is known. The office was re-opened again betwen 1879 and 1881. Between 1861 and 1879, Volos shows an extremely interesting group of cancellations including this Russian PP, private cachets, a company handstamp of the Messageries Impériales or an straight-line 'COI POSTALI FRANCESI'.

    Aleppo 1858 (April 13): Prepaid Letter sheet from London via Beirut to Aleppo, endorsed "Per fr. pkt. via Marseilles", franked with Victoria definitive 6 d. pale lilac (Gi 70), tied by oval barred '21' numerator with oval PD in red, French Calais entry cds (April 14, 1858) and very rare two line "POSTE FRANCAISE / D'ALEP" handstamp (Combination with Beyrout cds not listed in Pothion) in blue alongside, reverse with London despatch cds (April 13, 1858), Paris and "BEYROUT SYRIE 30 AVRIL 58" transit cds's. An interesting incoming cover.rnNote: Starting in January 1857, the rate from the United Kingdom to the Eastern Mediterranean with French packet was six pence.

    Alexandretta 1879 (Oct 21): Envelope at double rate from Tarsus to Aleppo, sent with a messenger to Alexandretta, franked on front with type Sage definitives 25 c. black on red in a vertical pair, tied by decorative type 22 "ALEXANDRETTA SYRIE 21 OCT 79" cds in blue, oval BM in blue alongside, brought with the Turkish post to Aleppo, where Dulos 1876 1 ghrush yellow, a strip of three and a bisected stamp as well as 10 pa. bright lilac (Mi 27+29) were added as postage due to the reverse and tied by all Arabic intaglio handstamp (Coles & Walker fig. 2). A very attractive and rare combination cover, opened up for display.rnNote: Late usage of the blue Alexandrette cds which is known up to 1880.

    Tunis 1856 (Sept 17): Letter sheet from Tunis to St. Pons, France, franked with 1853 Napoléon perforated 20 c. blue in a left marginal hor. strip of three, a fresh multiple with vibrant colour, tied by Petits Chiffres '3716' of Bone with crisp cogwheel "TUNIS 17 SEPT. 56" cds (Pothion = 21 points) and framed "P.P." in red alongside, reverse with Bone Algerie, Marseille & Montpellier transit and St. Pons arrival (Sept 26) cds's. Charge '4' décimes due upon arrival. A scarce and attractive item; signed Calves; cert. Roumet (1998).rnNote: Adhesives on mail from Tunis was cancelled in Bone, Algeria with the Petits Chiffres '3716' or Gros Chiffres '5015', respectively in the years between 1852 and 1862. In 1863 the Bone became a Bureau de distribution and received its own Gros chiffres '5107'.

    Tunis 1873 (Oct 7): Entire letter from Tunis to Marseille, franked with 1871/73 Cérès 10 c. brown on rose and two singles of 25 c. blue, tied by Gros Chiffres '5107' of Tunis with cogwheel "TUNIS 7 OCT 73" cds (Pothion = 13 points), framed PD in red and "TUNIS-PAR-BONE ALGERIE 8 OCT 73" cds in red alongside, reverse with Marseille arrival (Oct 12) cds. Minor perforation irregularities of no importance, a scarce and attractive item with a lot of postal history content.rnNote: The rates from Tunis to the French mainland where in principal those within France, but sometimes also those from France to French post offices abroad. The present item shows a particualr 60 c. rate for covers up to 10 gr. which were transported with 'Paquebots de l'Algérie' vessels.

    Tunis 1878 (Aug 20): Envelope from Tunis to Malfougasse, Dept. Basses Alpes, franked with type Sage 25 c. blue, a fine and fresh adhesive, tied by "TUNIS-BONE ALGERIE 20 AOUT 78" railway cds in red, reverse with Bone, Marseille, Forcalquier and St. Etienne-les-Orgues transit cds's. Minor part of one backflap missing, but a scarce and interesting item which was despatched not in the Tuns post office but directly in the railway vagoin of the Tunis - Bone line.

    Tunisia including Fieldpost 1852/88: Collection 37 covers from the French Levant post offices in Tunis and La Goulette as well as from different Fieldpost offices incl. Tunis auxilliary post office with 1852/62 four stampless entires to France, delivered via Bone Algeria, three franked covers 1864/65 with the Napoléon perforated definitives tied by Gros Chiffres '5015' numerals, two franked covers with Gros Chiffres '5107' numerals, April 1876 Cérès 30 c. brown tied with by Tunis datestamp in blue, the first month when the datestamp was used for this purpose, six additional Tunis items with Sage definitives; underfranked cover written in La Goulette and brought with messenger to Bone and mailed there, 1885/87 two Sage frankings; selection of 17 items with Tunisia Fieldpost cancellations, primarily from the 1881/83 campaign from La Goulette, Tunis, Djerba, Sfax, Gafsa, Lekef, Sousa, Bizerte and Gabes. An impressive selection, one certificate Roumet.

Slight waterstains.
