Letter also states the return address: '11e. Battalion Armée du Dumouriez, Liège', a fine and rare entire.

    Malta 1798 (June 11): Entire letter, an eye-witness account of the Siege of Malta (taken the following day by Napoleon's forces), written on board the "La Sensible" (23 Prairial an 6) "nous arrivons devant Valletta, ville capital Malte" and the letter goes on to mention Bonaparte's plans for the invasion of Egypt which were quickly put into motion - Bonaparte stayed but six days on the island but left 4'000 troops to garrison Malta and then sailed directly on to Egypt. The 'Sensible' avoided the Battle of the Nile, sailing westwards where this letter was mailed with straight line CADIZ handstamp in red and charged '20' due on receipt. An extraordinary and historic entire.

    Peninsular War 1808 (March 6): Entire letter written from Camp outside Madrid, Spain struck on front with three line 'BAU. GAL. / ARM. D'OBSERV. / DES CÔTES DE L'OCEAN' in black (Reinhardt = 750 pts). General Murat, in command of two Corps, was ordered by Napoleon to occupy Madrid without hostilities. On March 23, 1808 Murat ordered Dupont's 2nd Corps of Observation of the Gironde (25'000 men) and Moncey's Corps of Observation of the Ocean Coasts (29'000 men) to garrison Madrid. A very fine strike of a scarce handstamp.

Major de Keyser of the 119th Regiment in bivouac at Brisalina, 20 leagues from Vitoria, Spain struck on front with three line 'BAU. GAL. CORPS / D'OBSERV. DES PYRENEES / OCCIDENTALES' in black (Reinhardt = 1'000 pts). A fine strike of this scarce marking, the letter describes the Battle of Medina del Rio Seco at which 22'000 Spaniards, parts of the Armies of Galicia (under Blake) and Castile (under Cuesta) were defeated by 14'000 French troops under Marshall Bessières. The battle secured the lines of communication between Madrid and Bayonne.

Letter begins 'Nous sommes entre dans la ville on set batu pendant quatre jour...'.     1814 (March 29): Military letter at the end of the Napoeonic Wars, endorsed „Service militaire par estafette“ showing no handstamps at all, written by Marechal Augereau, Duc de Castiglione to General Parmetier in Tain with Augereau’s autograph, in which detailed military instructions are given: „…retraite en ordre sur le pont de l’Ysere, ou je fais établir des batteries pour vous protéger.“.rnCharles Pierre François Augereau, 1st Duc de Castiglione (21 October 1757 – 12 June 1816) was a general and Marshal of France. After serving in the French Revolutionary Wars he earned rapid promotion while fighting against Spain and soon found himself a division commander under Napoleon Bonaparte in Italy. He fought in all of Bonaparte's battles of 1796 with great distinction. During the Napoleonic Wars, Emperor Napoleon entrusted him with important commands. His life ended under a cloud because of his poor timing in switching sides between Napoleon and King Louis XVIII of France.
