    1856 (Aug 22): Entire letter from Calcutta to Genoa/Italy franked by 1856 4 a. grey-black on white paper pair (early usage), some perfs trimmed not affecting appearance, endorsed "From Alexandria to Europe by Austrian Steamer" with framed "INDIA / PAID" and various manuscript rates (9/9 charge in kreuzers for land and sea rate).
