    1919/23: Lot 36 covers, including 2 rub. brown Princess Tamara (2 & pair) on cover to Switzerland, tied by Italian cds "BRINDISI ARRIVI E PARTENZA 2.11.20", Herisau arrival mark, part of upper backflap missing; in addition 5000 r. green 1922 definitives (1 & vert. pair in different colors) plus 1000 r. on 50 r. violet overprint issue for the famine relief, tied by oval date stamp "TIFLIS VOKZAL 22.1.23" on reverse of cover to Lausanne with Moscow transit machine mark, no arrival mark, opened roughly at right; finally a group of 27 covers and seven formular postcards with 1919 definitives (the postcards with the full set), cancelled to order with different cds's from Tiflis. Rarely offered material.

    1850 (July 1): Entire letter from Le Mans to Paris franked by 1849 Cérès 20 c. black, used on first day of issue of the 25 c. blue and the consequent rate increase of the same day, tied by grill cancellation with embellished "Le Mans" cds above. Taxed on arrival in Paris (July 2) with manuscript "05" (centimes) due in red manuscript. Extremely scarce entire. Signed Calves.
