    1858 (April 7): Prepaid cover from Montevideo to Spain struck with superb "♚ / PAID / AT / MONTEVIDEO" in black with '1/-' rate in red manuscript above, showing double arc MONTE-VIDEO cds (April 7) in black and arrival cds (May 13) in red where charged '4R' due in red.     1866 (Sept 29): Great Britain 1865 4 d. vermilion pl. 7 and 1865 6 d. lilac pl. 5 in a horizontal pair, used on 1866 yellow envelope from Montevideo to Bordeaux tied by two fine strikes of the "C28" obliterator with reverse showing faint 'Monte-Video' double arc datestamp in black. 'London / Paid' transit cds and circular 'PD' in red (Nov 5) and arrival. Flap tear but a delightful and extremely rare cover.     1871 (Dec 17): Great Britain 1858/69 2 d. blue pl. 13 and 1867 3 d. rose pl. 6 with one vertical and two horizontal pairs (unlisted by Stanley Gibbons), used on Uruguay 5 c. blue postal stationery envelope sent registered from Montevideo to J.B.Moens in Brussels, all tied by four strikes of the "C28" obliterator. Faint 'Monte-Video / Paid' despatch cds in red and fine straight line REGISTERED alongside. 'London / Paid' transit (Jan 16, 1872) and reverse with four Brussels arrivals (Jan 17). Perforations of the adhesives somewhat over the edge of the cover but a stunning item - the sole recorded combination of Great Britain stamps and Uruguayan postal stationery and the sole recorded usage of the 3 d. rose plate 6 used from Uruguay.     1865 (April 28): Great Britain 1862 4 d. red, hairlines, a vertical pair with unusual 'dry' printing flaw on lower example, used on 1865 entire letter to Bordeaux endorsed 'p. Southampton' tied by fine strike of the "C28" obliterator in black and by circular 'PD' in red applied in transit in London (July 5). Reverse with double arc 'Monte-Video' datestamp (April 29) and Bordeaux arrival cds.     1871 (Dec 27): Great Britain 1867 1 s. green pl. 4, a used example on 1871 cover to from Montevideo to Taunton tied by bold strike of the "C28" obliterator with circular "MONTE-VIDEO / PAID" datestamp in red alongside (Dec 27). Reverse with Taunton arrival cds (Feb 11) in black. File fold just away from the adhesive, a charming and rare cover.
