Katalognummer : 5x1858 (Nov 1): 5 parale black on bluish grey paper, Type I, two examples of this great rarity, re-joined to the original pair on original pieces of the newspaper from which they were separated prior to 1914. The left hand 5 pa. with complete margins all round, close to the vertical frame line at left but not touching, and with large margin at right showing a gap between the stamps of 10.5 mm., this stamp with slight staining of trivial importance. The right hand 5 pa. again has complete margins all round, the design being untouched and the paper a vivid blue. The stamps are tied to the small pieces by a complete "Jassy" datestamp (20/5) struck in blue. Just 34 examples of this stamp are recorded and this multiple is a great rarity of classic philately. Katalognummer : 6by40 parale greenish blue on yellowish paper, printed in Jassy between 1860 and 1861, the complete mint sheet of 32 subjects (8 x 4) showing the central rows tête-bêche (and thus with eight vertical tête-bêche pairs), some creasing apparent but fresh and fine for this with large part typical yellowish-brown original gum. No more than two sheets existing in this shade, this being the finer of the two (the other being ex Rothschild & Cornelia). A rare and exceptional multiple. Illustrated in Edition d'Or on page 66.
