    1840: 1 d. black, plate 7, lettered PC, a used example with good to large margins all round, used on 1840 envelope to Trinity College, Cambridge tied by fine strike of "WOTTON UNDER EDGE" Maltese Cross with cross-cuts struck in red. Reverse with corresponding WOTTON-UNDER-EDGE double arc cds (Nov 25) in red, London transit cds and Cambridge arrival cds in black (Nov 27). Listed in "The Encyclopædia of the Maltese Cross" by Rockoff & Jackson on page 304. A magnificent example of this rare cancellation on a most attractive cover. Cert.
