    1840: Mulready 1 d. black letter-sheet, a used example from Bradford to Tadcaster, Yorkshire cancelled by Maltese Cross in red clearly struck over some manuscript embellishments to the Mulready drawing: with further faces drawn in ink and spectacles on the elephants at left and endorsed "Bradford May 10, 1840" on front; with reverse, opening well for display, showing BRADFORD double arc cds in red (May 10, 1840 - the first 'Sunday' date). Acid ink fault on front panel but a most unusual Mulready, with full letter from Patrick Pearson FRPSL, RDP. concerning the cover and cert. RPSL (1996). Vertical file fold but extremely rare: unrecorded in 'May Dates' by Mike Jackson.rn
